The Independent Planning Commission has scheduled a third day for the public meeting on a proposal to develop the Moss Vale Plastics Recycling Facility, to accommodate the strong community interest.
The Commission received 135 speaker registrations, more than can be accommodated in two days. The previously scheduled dates (28 October and 1 November 2024) will still go ahead, however both will now be held in person at the Bowral Memorial Hall. The Commission has allocated speaker timeslots for these two days in the order in which the registrations were received by the Commission.
A third day has been added on Tuesday 12 November 2024 to ensure everyone has the opportunity to present their views. This third day will be held entirely online.
Chair of the Independent Planning Commission Andrew Mills has welcomed the high level of community interest.
“Broadly speaking the task of the Commission is to review and assess three primary considerations - the departmental assessment, the feedback from stakeholders and the application of law and policy,” Mr Mills said.
“We appreciate the community’s patience as we have made changes to the meeting arrangements to meet the demand. We will be emailing all registered speakers and would ask everyone to check the details carefully to ensure no one misses their chance to present.”
The deadline for written submissions has also been extended to Tuesday 19 November 2024. The full speaker schedule will be posted on the Commission’s website here by COB Friday 25 October.
The updated arrangements are as follows (superseding all previous updates):
DAY 1
Date: Monday 28 October 2024
Venue: Bowral Memorial Hall
Time: 9am – 7pm
Format: Entirely in person
DAY 2
Date: Friday 1 November 2024
Venue: Bowral Memorial Hall
Time: 10am – 4pm
Format: Entirely in person (not online as previously scheduled)
DAY 3
Date: Tuesday 12 November 2024
Venue: Online meeting only – with livestream screened at Bowral Memorial Hall
Time: 10am – 1pm
Note: The speakers who nominated to speak online when they registered have all been scheduled to present on Day 3. Speakers will be sent a Zoom link and instructions on how to join the meeting closer to the date.
NOTE: Speakers who can't attend their scheduled timeslot on Day 1 or Day 2 can be rescheduled to the online meeting on Day 3. If this is the case, please let the Commission know as soon as you can via submissions@ipcn.nsw.gov.au
Unfortunately the high number of speakers makes it very difficult to accommodate requests to change timeslots, so any other change requests can only be considered in exceptional circumstances.
All three meeting days will be livestreamed on the Commission’s website here: https://www.ipcn.nsw.gov.au/livestream
We recognise the importance of community participation in our decision-making process. Using our ‘Make a submission’ form is the easiest way for you to make a submission on cases currently before the Commission.
