Make a submission to the Independent Forestry Panel

The Independent Forestry Panel has been appointed to lead consultation on a Forestry Industry Action Plan. The Panel is tasked with consulting and reporting to Government on the best options to achieve the balance between sustainable supplies of timber and NSW’s environmental commitments.

The Panel is now seeking your views on the sustainability of current and future forestry operations in NSW. The Panel has focused its call for public submissions on the topic areas that Government has indicated the Forestry Industry Action Plan will address.

Please note that the Independent Planning Commission itself is not involved in this matter; however, the Office of the Independent Planning Commission is providing secretariat support to the Independent Forestry Panel.

Thank you for taking the time to share your views with the Independent Planning Commission. The role of the Commission is to make planning decisions on certain development applications and provide advice on request to the Minister or Planning Secretary. When the Commission is determining a development application, the Commission’s decision follows a whole-of-government assessment that is undertaken by the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI), and also included public consultation.

We would like you to submit your views in a way that helps you and helps us. You can do this by providing relevant and specific information in your submission. To learn more, please review the public submission guidelines, which apply to submissions made on Commission cases. Please note, if you are making a submission to the Independent Forestry Panel, please see information and links to the relevant Public Submission Procedures in the Independent Forestry Panel section at the top of this page.

Simply select the case you wish to provide a submission on from the list below, complete the form, upload any attachments, and then click the ‘Submit’ button. Your submission
The Commission invites interested parties (including stakeholders and members of the public) to make any submission they consider appropriate. When the Commission is determining a development application, the Commission is particularly assisted by submissions that are responsive to the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure's Assessment Report and any recommended conditions of consent.

When determining a development application, the Commission has available to it all submissions already made to the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure during its exhibition of the Environmental Impact Statement. Members of the public are encouraged to avoid duplication of submissions they have already made on the proposed development.

There are factors that the Commission is not able to take into account when determining development applications, including the reputation of an applicant or any past planning law breaches by an applicant. Please see our Public Submission Guidelines for more guidance about what to include in your submission
